The City of Dollard-des-Ormeaux became an official entity in 1924 and obtained a new charter in 1960. Although mainly residential, Dollard-des-Ormeaux has many commercial zones. Sources and St-Jean Boulevards are its main commercial arteries. By landscaping Centennial Park, the municipality created a beautiful recreation area of 48 hectares around an artificial lake. At the heart of the City, adjacent to the administrative offices, are the Civic Centre which houses three skating rinks, two indoor swimming pools and an amphitheatre, the Cultural Centre with a reception hall, art gallery, a library and a Community Centre completing this group of public buildings, was added in 2002. Centennial Park This exceptional site, located in the heart of the community, with 48 hectares of natural beauty, including a large artificial lake, offers residents the peacefulness and charm of country living. Families can be seen throughout the seasons walking, jogging or biking along trails, enjoying a picnic or participating in a number of activities and festivities, including bocce. In the winter, this picturesque decor takes on an enchanted look, inviting the young and young at heart to try cross-country skiing or snowshoeing, skating or sliding down the toboggan hill.

Bernie Duplantie Memorial Softball Tournament: An annual softball tournament that raises money for cancer research. It is part of a grand tradition of community charity events: first weekend in August: Projet Espoir Youth Basketball Tournament: Westwood Park 45 Thornton Dollard-des-Ormeaux Cost: free BBQ Music Medals for the winning teams Participation prizes. This tournament is designed to help bring youth, local police and law enforcement together to bridge the gaps between them, last weekend of August, 2009: 514-683-4164 (Brigitte or Matt) DDO Teen Action: Teen Action guarantees you a summer of jam-packed fun! Pick and choose from a variety of activities and outings including La Ronde & Fireworks, a day at Beach Club, overnight camping and rafting, go-karting, paintball, Laser Quest, movie & pizza nights, combat H20? the list of activities goes on and on! If joining Teen Action this winter interests you, make sure to contact us for more information and come sign up at the Civic Centre. Remember, places are limited, so sign up early! Cost varies according to the activity.
